News: 23-year-old woman killed in multi-vehicle wreck on Florida Turnpike
HOLLYWOOD, FL – A woman died after she was involved in a multi-vehicle crash on the Florida Turnpike Saturday morning, reports NBC Miami.
The 23-year-old woman was driving an SUV in the turnpike’s northbound lanes near Griffin Road in Hollywood when the accident occurred shortly before 1 a.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, she lost control of SUV and collided with a pickup truck that was parked on the shoulder of the roadway. The SUV overturned and the woman was ejected.
The driver of a sedan could not stop in time and struck the woman’s vehicle, which then hit her. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported in the wreck. All lanes of the turnpike were shut down near Griffin Road for the crash investigation before reopening about five hours later.
