News: 2 seriously injured when trucks collide on Florida’s Turnpike
ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL – A multi-vehicle crash on Florida’s Turnpike Thursday morning left two people seriously injured, reports TC Palm.
Two semi-tractor-trailers and a box truck were involved in the collision in the southbound lanes of the highway in St. Lucie County. Two people were transported to area hospitals with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
The wreck occurred shortly after a tractor-trailer went up in flames at about 7 a.m. on the turnpike near Fort Pierce, forcing traffic to be diverted to the Yeehaw Junction exit. The truck driver was not hurt.
Both incidents caused major disruptions to morning rush hour traffic, with southbound lanes shut down in the area.
