News: 2 people, dog rescued by Coast Guard after boat sinks off Jensen Beach
JENSEN BEACH, FL – The Coast Guard came to the rescue Wednesday night after a boat sank off the coast of Jensen Beach.
According to WPTV, a helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami responded after a distress call from a VHF radio was received at about 10:30 p.m. Two people and a dog were on board a 38-foot vessel, The Paradise, that was taking on water. They got into a life raft and were hoisted up by the Coast Guard crew, which then took them to Martin County Airport in Stuart.
Coast Guard officials said the fact that the boat had a VHF marine radio played a key role in enabling the boaters to be rescued.
