News: 2 killed when vehicle crashes, catches fire on I-95 in Pompano Beach
POMPANO BEACH, FL – Two people were killed Wednesday afternoon when their vehicle was involved in a crash on Interstate 95 in Pompano Beach.
According to WSVN, first responders were dispatched to the site on I-95 north near Atlantic Boulevard after the accident occurred at about 1:20 p.m.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the vehicle struck a pole near the exit and burst into flames. The two people inside, both adults, were pronounced dead by Pompano Beach rescue units.
The northbound lanes of I-95 were closed while investigators worked the scene, and traffic was diverted to Cypress Creek Road. The accident remains under investigation by the FHP.
