News: 2 injured when car falls from elevated valet ramp at Coral Gables country club
CORAL GABLES, FL – A car fell from an elevated ramp at a Coral Gables country club Friday afternoon, leaving two people hospitalized.
The Miami Herald reports the incident took place at the Riviera Country Club on Blue Road sometime before 1:15 p.m.
Reports from police and the club manager indicated that a 92-year-old club member drove her Cadillac sedan through the top wall of an elevated valet circle ramp. The vehicle fell onto a golf cart that was parked below the valet area before landing on its roof.
The driver and a female passenger were transported to area hospitals but were not seriously injured. No other injuries were reported.
The crash was believed to have happened after the driver accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake, police said.
