News: 2 dead after car rear-ended at red light at Boynton Beach
BOYNTON BEACH, FL – A rear-end collision in Boynton Beach early Sunday morning left two people dead.
According to WPEC, a Hyundai Elentra was stopped at a red light in the area of Boynton Beach Boulevard and Winchester Park Boulevard shortly after midnight. Police said the vehicle was struck from behind by a Volkswagen Jetta that was going east on Boynton Beach Boulevard at a high rate of speed.
The Hyundai hit a sidewalk and a utility pole before catching fire. The male driver of the Hyundai and a female passenger sustained fatal injuries.
The Jetta driver was hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Anyone with information regarding the accident was asked to contact Boynton Beach police.
