News: 2 dead after car hits truck in fiery collision on Florida Turnpike
DELRAY BEACH, FL – Authorities said two people were killed when a sedan crashed into a small truck on the Florida Turnpike Monday morning.
WPEC reported the accident occurred in the southbound lanes of the turnpike between Boynton Beach Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue near Delray Beach.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the truck had broken down in the left lane of the turnpike and the driver of the sedan was unable to stop in time. The car slammed into the truck and both vehicles caught fire.
The two people who were in the sedan were killed in the accident. Their identities were not immediately released.
The turnpike was shut down in the area of the crash before all lanes reopened at about 3 p.m. The incident remains under investigation by the FHP.
