News: 19-year-old facing charges in fatal Miami-Dade County car accident
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – A young man is facing charges stemming from a deadly car crash in Miami-Dade County earlier this month, reports WPLG.
Investigators said 19-year-old Davian Andres Kates was speeding in an Infiniti Q50 on Jan. 2 when he lost control in the area of Southwest 137th Avenue and 128th Street at about 7 a.m.
The car went onto a median and crashed into several palm trees. An 18-year-old rear-seat passenger was killed in the wreck. Four other teenage passengers were seriously injured.
Police said Kates left the car and ran off without trying to help the others or calling 911. He turned himself in to authorities on Monday and now faces eight felony charges.
