News: 17-year-old motorcyclist killed in collision with car west of Boca Raton
BOCA RATON, FL – Authorities said a collision in Palm Beach County Monday afternoon claimed the life a teenage motorcycle rider.
WPTV reports the incident took place on State Road 7 and Bridgebrook Drive near Boca Raton shortly after 3 p.m.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, a 79-year-old driver was behind the wheel of an Audi on Bridgebrook Drive, preparing to make a turn onto U.S. 441/State Road 7.
At the same time, a 17-year-old male was riding a Honda motorcycle north in the left lane of U.S. 441/State Road 7.
Investigators said the Audi violated the motorcyclist’s right of way and entered the roadway, causing the motorcycle to hit the car. The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and pronounced dead at the scene.
Charges were pending in the case, the sheriff’s office said.
U.S. 441/State Road 7 was closed for several hours following the accident.
