News: 1 woman killed, 1 injured when car slams into pole on U.S. 1
ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL – State troopers said one woman was killed and another injured when their car crashed in St. Lucie County on Sunday.
TC Palm reported the accident occurred on U.S. 1 south of East Midway Road shortly after 2 p.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 52-year-old woman was driving a sedan when a van came out of Tropical Isles Way and turned into her path. That caused the sedan to hit a concrete pole on the west side of U.S. 1.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 51-year-old female passenger was taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute with minor injuries. Both woman were Fort Pierce residents.
The van driver suffered minor injuries. He was an 85-year-old man from Clarksboro, New Jersey, troopers said.
