News: 1 driver killed, 1 injured in collision on Alligator Alley in Broward County
BROWARD COUNTY, FL – A collision involving an SUV and a pickup truck in Broward County left one driver dead and the other critically injured.
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the crash happened on Alligator Alley on Interstate 75 at about 6:45 Sunday night.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the pickup truck driver was heading west on the highway when he lost control after a tire blew out. The vehicle went across a median and collided with an eastbound SUV, causing both vehicles to catch fire.
The SUV driver died at the scene, and was later identified as 37-year-old Walter “Tony” Laughlin, of Sarasota.
The pickup truck driver, a 45-year-old man from Naples, was listed in critical condition at Broward Health Medical Center.
