News: 1 dead after car crashes, catches fire in Pembroke Pines
PEMBROKE PINES, FL – A woman was found dead following a fiery car accident in Pembroke Pines late Monday night.
NBC Miami reports the accident happened in the westbound lanes of Sheridan Street near Northwest 136th Avenue at about 11:30 p.m.
Investigators believe a driver lost control and crashed into a tree in the center median, causing the car to catch fire. Responding police officers found a woman’s body inside the burned vehicle. The name of the victim was not immediately released.
Police investigating the accident said speed and alcohol use may have been contributing factors.
The crash shut down Sheridan Street for several hours overnight into Tuesday morning.
