Motorcyclist killed in collision with vehicle in Pompano Beach
POMPANO BEACH, FL – The Broward County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating a weekend collision in Pompano Beach that left a motorcyclist dead.
The incident occurred in the 500 block of South Dixie Highway at about 6:15 p.m. Saturday evening.
A preliminary investigation indicated that 56-year-old Janet Nilsen of Miami was driving a Kia Soul southbound while 25-year-old Rossano Henry Jr. was also going south on a Suzuki GSX-R600 motorcycle. When Nilsen turned left into a parking lot, she crossed in front of Henry and the motorcycle hit the side door of the Kia, authorities said.
Henry, a Fort Lauderdale resident, was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Nilsen was hospitalized with injuries that were not regarded as life-threatening.
