WSVN.com reports that the deceased is 26-year-old Diego Becerra, who was killed when the boat in which he was riding struck another vessel, ejecting him from the boat.
Miami Beach Police and Fire Rescue received an emergency call at about 9:00 pm on Tuesday and responded to the scene of the crash near Star Island and Monument Island. WSVN.com reports that the paramedics transported Becerra to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in very serious condition, and another victim to Mount Sinai Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
“We understand that one person was ejected from one of these vessels and ended up in the water…These divers went in the water and they were able to locate the patient,” said Erika Benitez of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
The report indicates that the crash may have been a hit-and-run. Apparently, the man who called in the crash went missing after the incident.
