Man Accused of Carnival Elation Sexual Assault Denied Bail
A man who was accused of sexually assaulting a woman aboard a Carnival cruise ship late last month was denied bail at his hearing last week.
23-year-old Brian Holland is accused of having sexually assaulted an 18-year-old mentally challenged woman in a hot tub aboard the Carnival Elation cruise ship in late February. According to published reports Holland is accused of groping genitals of the woman, who reportedly has the mental capacity of a 12-year-old.
At his March 6th hearing a Federal judge determined Holland to be a flight risk and ordered that he be kept in custody. Jacksonville’s News 4 reports that the judge indicated that Holland, too, has mental health issues. Holland apparently attempted to commit suicide in his cell days after being arrested.
Holland is facing up to life in prison and is expected back in court later this week.
