Loved Ones of Cyclists Killed in Distracted Driver Incident Gather to Call for Change
Friends and family members of a cyclists who were struck by a distracted driver last week gathered today in an effort to bring awareness to distracted driving.
Two people were killed last week when a distracted driver plowed into a group of cyclists. Several people were also left injured. According to the Local10.com report 33-year-old Nicole Vanderweit struck the group as she drove on State Road 84 while fiddling with something in her car. She also reported having been distracted by the sun during the crash.
The community gathered to call public awareness to distracted driving and call on local authorities to help better protect bike riders.
53-year-old Denise Marsh and 62-year-old Carlos Rodriguez were killed in the collision.
