Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested in Connection with Deadly Collision
59-year-old Miami-Dade resident Michel Vernet was arrested on Thursday, and charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash.
Local10.com reports that Vernet was driving in the area of Northwest Seventh Avenue near Northwest 103rd Street on Saturday night, when he collided with 51-year-old Auguste Friznel. Vernet did not stop to help the victim, but instead fled the scene in violation of Florida law.
Friznel was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
After turning himself in on Thursday, Judge Mindy Glazer set Vernet’s bond at $10,000.
