FBI Now Involved in Investigation of Cruise Ship Death
The FBI is now involved in the investigation surrounding the death of a U.S. citizen, which occurred aboard a cruise ship earlier this week.
The 52-year-old unidentified woman was sailing on a seven-day itinerary to Aruba aboard the Royal Princess cruise ship when she fell from the upper deck of the ship. Published reports indicate that she was seen in an altercation with a man, who was allegedly strangling her before her fall.
Princess Cruise Line, the owner of the ship, issued a statement expressing condolences for the women’s death, saying “We are deeply saddened by this incident and offer our sincere condolences to the family and those affected.” The statement also indicated that the company is cooperating with the FBI and other authorities investigating the tragedy.
The FBI was called to assist in the investigation, presumably because the victim is an American citizen and the circumstances surrounding her death are suspicious.
