Driver dies after car crashes into Miami apartment building
MIAMI, FL – A driver was killed when his car crashed into an apartment building in Miami early Monday.
According to WPLG, the driver lost control of the vehicle at the corner of Northwest First Place and 11th Terrace shortly after midnight. The car went through a field and then struck the building in the city’s Overtown neighborhood.
The driver was extricated from the vehicle but could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately released. No one was inside the apartment that was hit, and no other injuries were reported.
A gas leak was reported following the crash, causing about 20 residents to be evacuated from the building for about an hour.
