Cruise Ship Collision Continues Cruise Industry Woes
In recent weeks the cruise industry has suffered a number of negative news stories. Perhaps the most concerning of the incidences, until now, was when a cruise ship struck a pier in Puerto Rico. The ship was initially en route to the British Virgin Islands when it began to suffer mechanical issues. After the ship rerouted to Puerto Rico, it struck a morning while pulling into port, causing damage and ruining the vacations of those aboard. Now, the industry is battling another negative story, after two ships collided in Buenos Aires.
The incident occurred as the MSC Orchestra collided with another ship in port. Some speculate that the captain of the Orchestra lost control, causing the vessel to careen into the MSC Poesia.
Video of the collision circulated the internet, causing travelers to wonder how such a thing could happen.
