Carnival Fantasy Damaged after Striking Lock in Panama Canal
The Carnival Carnival Fantasy cruise ship was damaged after striking a lock in the Panama Canal.
Fox 10 News WALA reports that passengers were frightened after the ship struck the lock as it was being guided through the series of locks by canal workers.
The WALA reports that a passenger who was aboard the vessel at the time of the incident says that the ship hit the wall twice as it went down the channel. Another passenger reported that the impact pushed in a guard rail, shattered windows, and even damaged a staircase.

Not surprisingly, some passengers reported that Carnival’s communication to its guests in the incident’s aftermath left much to be desired.
Carnival did not report any injuries as a result of the incident, and the ship is expected to continue on its itinerary as planned.
