The crash occurred at about 8:30 a.m. in the vicinity of North Miami Avenue and 20th Street when the train struck an SUV occupied by three people. First responders had to extract a victim from the back of the vehicle.
“Immediately we made access into the vehicle, which had one male victim inside. We were able to remove him from the rear of the hatchback because the crossguard arm had impaled itself into the window of the vehicle, said City of Miami Fire Rescue spokesman Pete Sanchez in a statement.
Officials expect all the victims of the crash to recuperate fully from their injuries.
