Bicyclist Who Was Struck By Vehicle Fleeing the Police Speaks Out
Yesterday we blogged about a bicyclist who was struck by a vehicle that was fleeing police yesterday. Now, the victim is speaking out.
Local10.com reports that five juveniles, ages 12 to 16, were attempting to steal a vehicle in Broward County on Wednesday when police arrived and thwarted their plan. The teens fled in another stolen vehicle and ran into 34-year-old bicyclist Michael Evans at Sistrunk Boulevard and Northwest 27th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale as they fled from police.
Evans suffered multiple injuries in the crash, including “multiple fractures on his neck and spine, a laceration on his head and ear that he needed morphine for, and now they’re looking at his knees that started to swell,” his mother said.
On Thursday Evans spoke to the media, saying that it “could have been a lot worse, and I know that. Part of that makes me really grateful.”
