Authorities Find Body of Missing Jacksonville-Area Boater
In the afternoon hours of September 30, a boater went missing after his vessel capsized on the north side of the Buckman Bridge in Jacksonville.
Following the crash, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said in a statement, “a single vessel incident occurred on the north side of the Buckman Bridge located on the St. Johns River. Upon FWC and JFRD arrival, the vessel was located capsized and drifting north of the Buckman Bridge. No occupants were found onboard or near the vessel. “

Authorities with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission had been looking for Walter Williams since his boat apparently struck the bridge at approximately 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, causing him to fall out of the boat. On Friday officials announced that they had found his body near the bridge.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the tragedy.
