Arrest In Connection With Deadly Personal Watercraft Collision
Several days ago we blogged about a man who was killed while riding a personal watercraft in Biscayne Bay, and that the pilot of the boat that collided with the man fled the scene. Now, authorities have arrested someone in connection with the tragedy.
Local10.com reports that police have arrested Jorge Rodriguez Del Ray for the crash that killed 26-year-old Alcides Yagues. Apparently, on Saturday Del Ray was piloting the 30-foot vessel that collided with Yagues in the water near the Miami Marine Stadium, leading to his death.
While it was initially reported that there were up to 15 people on the boat with Del Ray when the collision occurred, it appears that there were approximately nine people aboard.
Local10.com reports that authorities are charging Del Ray with multiple counts including leaving the scene of a boating accident with a fatality, failure to render aid, and failure to report to law enforcement.
