After Inujries and a Death Tesla’s Auto-drive Feature is Under Scrutiny
The U.S. Government has announced that it will look into Tesla’s Autopilot system.
The Autopilot is an enhancement on Tesla vehicles that allows the vehicles to operate semi-autonomously. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) believes that the system may be faulty.
WSVN.com reports that the investigation covers the 765,000 vehicles that Tesla has sold in the United States since 2014. The NHTSA says that it has identified at least 11 crashes since 2018 that it believes involved Tesla’s autonomous driving feature.
The NHSTA says that autonomous driving-related crashes have injured at least 17 people and killed one since 2014.
The WSVN report suggests that the NHTSA may be pursuing a more aggressive policy relating to autonomous vehicles than did previous administrations.
