More Cancellations Rock the Cruise Industry

As the cruise industry attempts to regain its footing following a month and a half of canceled voyages, cruise companies such as industry giant Carnival are planning to return to sailing in late summer. But other cruise lines are continuing to cancel. The latest round of cancellations saw Princess Cruises announce that it would be canceling certain itineraries through the end of the 2020 summer season.

USAToday.com reports that Princess announced the cancellations in a statement, saying, “As the world is still preparing to resume travel, it is with much disappointment that we announce an extension of our pause of global ship operations and the cancellation of cruise vacations for our loyal guests.”

The cancellations come in response to significant difficulties in the travel industry in general, including reduced domestic and international flights and international cruise port closures.

According to the USAToday.com report, the affected voyages include Alaskan cruises on the Emerald Princess and Ruby Princess, Caribbean and New England cruises on the Caribbean Princess and Sky Princess, and fall cruises to Hawaii and French Polynesia on the Pacific Princess
