Mercedes-Benz Issues “Do Not Drive” Order for Nearly 300,000 SUVs
Automaker Mercedes-Benz has issued a “do not drive” order for nearly 300,000 SUVs manufactured between 2006 and 2012. The order comes as a result of a defect that could cause the vehicle’s brakes to fail.
Mercedes-Benz is recalling 292,000 SUVs and advising owners of the vehicles to stop driving them until a potential problem, which could cause the power brake system to fail, can be fixed, if needed. https://t.co/L3izCJOSbU

USAToday.com reports that the defect stems from corrosion which can be caused by an accumulation of moisture in the brake booster housing unit. In certain cases, this can cause decreased brake performance and can even lead to brake failure.
The “do not drive” order comes after the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a recall for the vehicles.
The report did not indicate whether there had been any crashes or injuries as a result of the defect.
