Man Riding Personal Watercraft Dead After Colliding With Boat Filled With Passengers
A man riding a personal watercraft was killed in a collision with a boat on Saturday.
Local10.com reports that the victim, 26-year-old Alcides Valdez, and the boat collided on Saturday at about 2:19 p.m. near the Rickenbacker Marina. The 30-foot boat with which Valdez collided was carrying between 10 to 15 people at the time of the incident.
Apparently, the boat did not stop to assist Valdez or await authorities, and officials with the Florida Fish and Wild Conservation Commission are currently looking for the boat and those responsible for the crash.
FWC issued an advisory saying that the boat that collided with Valdez should have some indication of the collision, such as paint or transfer markings from the watercraft Valdez was piloting at the time of the collision.
The boat was last seen traveling north from the Rickenbacker Causeway.
