Hyundai Recalls Over 200,000 Vehicles Due to Fuel Leak and Fire Risk
Automaker Hyundai is recalling over 200,000 cars as a result of a defect that could cause dangerous fuel leaks and engine fires.

ConsumerReports.org reports that Hyundai is recalling Sonata sedans model years 2013 to 2014 due to a low-pressure fuel hose that may become damaged and leak fuel.
This is the second time that this group of vehicles has been recalled for this issue. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), tape used in a previous fix may not prevent the leak. Under the new recall, the vehicles will receive a new fuel hose.
As the report notes, automakers Hyundai and Kia have issued numerous recalls over the past several years. Kia also recalled 2013 to 2014 model year Optimas for a similar defect in 2020.
Though Hyundai has cited approximately 138 incidents of the fuel hose defect in the United States, the report says that the company has not cited any cases of fire, crash, or injury resulting from the defect.
