Ford Recalls Over 250K Vehicles On Rollaway Risk
Automaker Ford has issued a recall for more than a quarter-million vehicles due to a defect that could cause the vehicles to roll away.
CNET.com reports that Ford is recalling Explorer SUVs model years 2020-2022 due to a defective driveshaft that can become disconnected. In a statement, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said:
“If the rear axle bolt breaks, the driveshaft-half shafts may become disconnected, resulting in loss of transmission torque to the rear wheels which is necessary to hold the vehicle in park. If the parking brake is not applied, the loss of the primary park torque will allow the vehicle to roll in park increasing the risk of crash and injury.”
Several Ford SUV models were included in the recall — including police units. https://t.co/aakTdxRV9c
