Ford Recalls 1.4 Million Vehicles for Defect Which Can Cause Vehicles’ Steering Wheels to Detach
Automaker Ford is the latest in a long string of automakers to issue major recalls in recent years.
According to ABC Action News, Ford issued a recall for 1.4 million vehicles today, including Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ model vehicles. The company says that over time the bolts attaching the steering wheel to the car may wear out, resulting in the steering wheel detaching from the vehicle.
According to the report at least two crashes have resulted from the defect.
Months ago, we reported that Ford was under pressure to recall 1.3 million vehicles due to fears that the cars were emitting carbon monoxide. ABC News reports that thousands of police cars were taken out of service due to the carbon monoxide concerns. The Center for Auto Safety demanded that Ford recall and fix the vehicles, but the automaker insisted that the vehicles were safe.
