According to police as the school bus traveled eastward on Great Ecret Drive, making a left turn onto US-27, the bus apparently turned into the path of an oncoming Toyota that was traveling southbound on US-27.
The Toyota crashed into the bus with such force that the collision sent the Toyota careening several hundred feet. The driver of the Toyota was killed in the crash.
None of the students aboard the school bus were reported injured.
The school district indicated that the 64-year-old driver of the bus has been assigned other duties while the investigation into the crash continues.
