BMW Recalls Approximately 50,000 Vehicles Due to Potential Fire Risk
BMW is recalling thousands of cars and SUVs due to risk of fire.
ConsumerReports.com reports that the German automaker is recalling vehicles model years 2013 to 2018. The affected vehicles feature a potentially defective exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) module with an integrated cooler.

Consumer Reports says that defective EGRs may leak, leading to smoldering particles which may melt engine components and potentially cause a fire.
Among the approximately 50,400 affected vehicles are the 3 Series, 5 Series, 7 Series cars, and SUVs models X3 and X5.
