Champlain Towers South Search Member Falls 25 Feet
As rescuers continue to search for the victims of the Champlain Towers South collapse, the nation waits with bated breath to hear news of survivors. But the rescue effort itself is not without risk, as authorities report that a rescue worker recently fell 25 feet while looking for victims.
Assistant Chief Ray Jadallah with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue mentioned the rescuer’s predicament during a periodic briefing on Monday. He highlighted the rescuer’s plight as a “perfect example of the situation we are dealing with.”
Jadallah says that the rescue effort is not as simple as many may think, citing the twisted metal and concrete that first responders have to contend with.
Jadallah also cited the safety of both the victims and the rescue personnel as factors affecting the search and rescue efforts.
