Alligator Alley Crash Leaves One Dead
A Florida resident was killed in a crash on Alligator Alley in a single-vehicle crash on Monday.
Patch.com reports that the crash occurred at about 8:27 a.m. on I-75 near mile marker 37. The 57-year-old victim, from Clewiston, was driving a pickup truck when he suddenly veered off the road and into a canal. The truck filled up with water and the victim apparently had trouble exiting the vehicle, possibly because he was wearing his seatbelt.
Though rescuers transported the victim to Broward General Hospital, he later died.
At the time the article was published, authorities were unsure as to what caused the victim to veer off the road and the investigation into the crash was ongoing.
