Authorities Release Name of Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Employee Killed in Boat Crash

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission lost one of its employees this week when she was involved in a boating accident in Palm Beach County.

CBS12.com reports that the boat in which the employee was traveling collided with a concrete piling in a canal under the Congress Avenue ramp to Southern Boulevard.  Authorities have identified the victim as 29-year-old Dana Katz of Hypoluxo.

Two other people were also injured in the collision.  Authorities have not released their names or discussed their medical conditions.

In a statement regarding the crash, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said:

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of FWC Fisheries Biologist Dana Katz after a boating accident that occurred on Tuesday, October 27 in Palm Beach County. Two additional FWC staff members were also aboard the boat and were transported to a local hospital where they remain in stable condition. The investigation is currently being conducted by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit. Our thoughts are with Dana’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
