Winknews.com reports that the crash occurred in Collier County on SR-82 at about 6:40 a.m. on Friday. The crash involved a passenger van that was carrying 15 people. The van collided with the pickup truck when the truck’s 20-year-old driver attempted to pass a slow-moving vehicle. The pickup crossed over into oncoming traffic and struck the van with such force that the van overturned.
The impact of the collision resulted in numerous injuries, sending 13 people to three hospitals. Four people were seriously or critically injured.
Locals say that serious crashes on SR-82 happen too frequently. “There’s always deadly crashes and crashes all the time here on 82,” said Nicole Saars of Lee County.
