Carnival Cruise Line Announces New Cruises Out of Galveston
The late-summer cruise season is shaping up to be a busy one as Carnival Cruise Line prepares to make its return to the seas in August.
Currently, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has a moratorium on cruising which is set to run through July 24. Carnival, the world’s largest cruise company, has announced that it will begin cruising again on August 1, sailing out of Galveston, Port Canaveral, and Miami.
Though many cruise destinations will remain closed for several months, Carnival’s itineraries out of Galveston prove that other ports of call are ready to begin accepting passengers again. Chron.com reports that Carnival has announced cruises ranging between 4 and 8 days which will call on a variety of destinations including Cozumel and Costa Maya, Belize, Grand Cayman, and Montego Bay.
In order to successfully return to the seas, Carnival knows that it must provide travelers with a cruise experience similar enough to that which passengers enjoyed before the coronavirus pandemic, while at the same time implementing stringent sanitation and hygienic controls to help prevent the spread of illness aboard the vessels.
Royal Caribbean, too, plans to begin sailing out of Galveston in August. The world’s second-largest cruise line will sail itineraries ranging from 4 to 7 nights, calling on Cozumel, Costa Maya, and the Bahamas, among other destinations.
