Authorities Identify Two Women Killed In Fisher Island Ferry Accident
Authorities have identified the two victims of a tragedy in which a car fell into the sea from the Fisher Island ferry earlier this week.
The two women were sitting in an automobile which was being transported by the Fisher Island ferry Tuesday when the car rolled forward as the ferry pulled away from the dock at Fisher Island.
Local10.com reports that authorities have identified the victims as 75-year-old Viviane Brahms and 63-year-old Emma Afra. The women were in Afra’s 2019 Mercedes-Benz when the car fell off the ferry into the water.
Search and rescue teams searched for the vehicle for hours, eventually finding the women unresponsive in the car.
Authorities temporarily suspended ferry service in the aftermath of the tragedy, but have since restored service.
Authorities have not indicated the cause of the accident.
