Cruise Passenger Dead After Falling from Cruise Ship In Norway

A cruise ship passenger died on Thursday after falling from a cruise ship in Norway the day before.

Foxnews.com reports that the 40-something-year-old woman fell from the MS Finnmarken cruise ship on Wednesday as the ship was en route to Ålesund. Norwegian authorities deployed “all available resources” in the search for the woman, including a rescue helicopter, FoxNews.com reports.

During the massive search, the victim was recovered from the sea and rushed to a local medical facility in critical condition. She later died from her injuries. Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading up to her disappearance, and the execution of her recovery. 

The MS Finnmarken is owned by Hurtigruten. In a statement, Hurtigruten said that the company can confirm the passenger’s death, and added that the company is “deeply saddened by this incident and offer our sincere condolences to the family and those affected. As this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot comment further at this time.”

Authorities have not released details about how the woman fell from the ship.
