8-Year-Old Boy Suffers Cardiac Arrest while Aboard Cruise Ship
An 8-year-old boy is recovering after going into cardiac arrest aboard a cruise ship.
WLWT.com reports that the boy was traveling with his family aboard the Norwegian Bliss on Friday when he collapsed after running down a flight of stairs. His father ran to his side and noticed he was not breathing.
Though the boy’s father tried to assist him, the boy did not respond. But his grandfather, a former EMT, soon happened upon the scene and rendered aid. Interestingly, the report says that the boy’s grandfather had performed CPR on the boy’s mother when she was a child.
The boy has a genetic condition which will require surgery to address.
