Brightline Train Strikes and Kills Woman in Hollywood, Florida
Florida’s Brightline train has struck and killed another person.
The incident occurred in Hollywood, Florida, during the evening hours of November 23, when a woman was struck by the train.
The victim apparently was hit by the train as it ran parallel to Dixie Highway at the intersection of Fillmore.
The Brightline train has been involved in numerous fatal and non-fatal crashes this year.
In fact, according to a SunSentinel.com report, this is the tenth time the Brightline has been involved in a fatal incident since July 2017. Eight of those deaths occurred this year. Many more train collision incidents have involved injury and property damage.
Critics of the trains say that they move too fast in an area replete with pedestrians. For example, the Sun Sentinel report says that there are approximately 200 railroad crossings between Miami and West Palm Beach.
