Cruise Ship Breaks from Moorings in Storm, Collides with Another Ship
Newsweek.com reports that a cruise ship collided with another ship in an Italian port this week, after breaking free from its moorings in a storm.
The incident occurred in La Spezia, Italy on Monday, the news outlet reports. The collision was apparently provoked by strong winds which broke the Celebrity Constellation cruise ship adrift, sending it careening into another cruise ship, the Costa Magica.
Though no injuries were reported in the incident, it does raise very important questions. Considering the fact that cruise ship collisions of this type are far more common than most people would expect, it would stand to reason that cruise companies would recognize the danger involved in these incidents and correct the problem.
