Video: Carnival Rescues Cruise Passenger Who Had Fallen Overboard
Yesterday we blogged about a cruise ship passenger who fell from a Carnival cruise ship over the weekend, and was subsequently rescued by the ship’s crew. Now, video of the incident has been released online.
Carnival says that the victim jumped from the Carnival Fascination cruise ship as it sailed near San Juan, Puerto Rico on Saturday. Thanks to a rapid response, the ship’s crew was able to pull the man from the water about 45 minutes after he fell from the vessel.
Saturday’s rescue was not the norm in passenger disappearance scenarios. Usually passengers who fall from cruise ships are lost at sea.
Despite advanced technology which would substantially assist cruise ship authorities in rescuing passengers who fall overboard, the so called “man overboard” technology has not been widely deployed among the nation’s top cruise companies.
Attorney John H.
