U.S. State Department Issues Bahamas Travel Advisory
The U.S. State Department has issued a travel advisory, warning U.S. citizens against visiting the Bahamas.
News 5 Cleveland reports that the warning instructs visitors to the island to use caution due to “violent crime, such as burglaries, armed robberies, and sexual assault,” which is reported to be common even during the daytime in parts of the island frequented by tourists.
The report also indicates that visitors my face also dangers when partaking in activities involving commercial recreational watercraft, which are not as stringently regulated in the Bahamas as in the U.S.
Most major cruise companies, including Royal Caribbean and Carnival, frequently call on the Bahamas.
