Three Dead and One Injured Following Homestead Crash
Three people are dead following a serious vehicle crash near the Homestead International Speedway.
Local10.com reports that the events that lead to the crash began at about 3:00 am when a vehicle allegedly cut off an unmarked Homestead patrol car. Officers say that when they attempted to stop the car it accelerated away. About an hour later officers again located the vehicle, this time leading to a chase but the car again eluded the officers.
At about 5:00 am Homestead police received a call that a vehicle had crashed into a canal in the vicinity of East Palm Drive, west of 142nd Ave. Though Miami-Dade rescue workers responded to the scene and were able to extract three injured victims from the canal and transport them to the hospital, the three later died.
A fourth victim who rescue workers later found on land near the canal is in stable condition at Jackson South Hospital.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause and circumstance surrounding the crash.
