The Miami Herald reports that 59-year-old Captain White died in a crash at approximately 1:00 p.m. at the 11800 block of Griffin Road in Cooper City. Captain White’s wife was driving west on Griffin Road when their car was struck on the passenger’s side by Daniel Chamberlin, who was driving a Subaru WRX. The crash T-boned the White’s vehicle and caused Chamberlin’s vehicle to run into a traffic control box and eventually catch fire. The White’s car struck a curb and rolled over onto its roof. Captain White’s wife Lisa was transported to the hospital in critical condition, while Chamberlin was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Captain White’s son, James White, is a NFL running back with the New England Patriots. He was inactive for Sunday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks following notification of his father’s passing.
