Suspect Fleeing Police Casuses Crash That Leaves 3 Dead and 2 Injured

A wrong-way crash left three people dead and two people injured on Tuesday night.

ClickOrlando.com reports that the crash was caused by a suspect who was fleeing from police on Interstate 95 in Volusia County on Tuesday night at about 7:00 p.m.

Apparently, a 47-year-old male suspect was driving an SUV with a license that was revoked in January 2000 when police attempted to stop him. Instead of stopping, the suspect fled. Authorities described the man as a “career criminal” who had been imprisoned eight times and who had a rap sheet over 200 pages long.

While fleeing from the police the suspect crashed into another vehicle carrying a 21-year-old Wisconsin man and his 18-year-old sister, killing them. The suspect also died in the crash.

In addition to the deceased victims, a 13-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were seriously injured in the crash.

Published reports say that the victims had just viewed the Christmas lights at Daytona International Speedway when the crash occurred.
