Seven Injured When Two Watercraft Crash in Tampa Bay
Seven people were injured in a boating crash in Tampa Bay on Saturday.
WTSPcom reports that the crash occurred when two pleasure watercraft collided with each other near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, resulting in one of the boats capsizing. Of the seven people aboard the watercraft, six were transported to a local hospital for treatment while the seventh was able to arrive at the hospital without assistance. One person is reportedly in serious condition.
Various state, local, and federal agencies responded to the incident including the U.S. Coast Guard, Pinellas Fire and Rescue, and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Authorities believe that weather may have been a factor in the collision as the area was under a heavy fog advisory at the time of the crash.
